The name of the
presenter is Patricia Katz. She holds a Masters degree in Continuing Education
and a CHRP designation as a Certified Human Resource Professional. She has
served in many executive leadership roles in the regional, provincial and
national professional associations in Canada. Patricia helps organizations and
their leaders generate stronger result while creating a more satisfying work
and life experience for all. I attended one of her presentation, where she was
talking about educators in early childhood education and their relationship
with the children. Patricia said we are molding their destinies and that the
way we treat them is very important. She said we should hold them dearly
because some of the ways people are behaving today, or the mentality they have
is as a result of the way they were brought up. She said some people wish they
can still see some of their teachers when they were in school to say a big
thank you to them for the encouragement they gave to them at one time or the
other. There are also some people that don’t want to see or even hear the names
of some of the people that they came across when they were growing up because
of the way they were treated.
Patricia also made mention of
appreciation in the presentation. She said appreciation goes a long way in an
organization and in any relationship. She said it is very important in order
for the organization or relationship to run smoothly. She said people are starved
for good news about themselves. Our daily busyness drives us from one task to
another without a breath for reflection. There are clients to please, phone
calls to make, children to ferry, and bills to pay. Recognition and celebration
are more than just the icing on the cake.
I found Patricia presentation very
insightful and inspirational couple with the effective way of communicating
with people. She was able to carry the people along by focusing on them, using
effective body language, show interest in the people she was talking to,
engaging people by asking some questions and allowing them to ask question for
effective communication and so on. She’s somebody I would like to be my mentor
in this field.
Adebisi, great post. I think Patricia would make a great mentor.
