Social media is a
form of internet way of implementing different social networks in order to
communicate with people.
It communicates information on the issues to members and the public. In advocacy using social media can help to
reach more people that will be interested in the advocacy effort. It’s amazing to be a member of Walden University
Early Childhood Organization (WUECO). The members are there to share their
success, interests and something that will inspire and motivate others in
this field. Facebook has improved the speed and efficiency at which
information could be communicated.
Facebook,
blog and you-tube are the social media tools that I feel would lend themselves
to effective advocacy. The blog assignment we do every week
is one of the ways to educate and inspire others. Personally I’ve been able to
learn and inspire through the blog assignment every week in one way or the other. You-tube
is also an avenue to create people’s awareness about advocacy. This could be
done may be by putting some of the advocacy information we give on you-tube e.g
workshop, interview, campaign and so on. These could motivate others to join us
in making changes in the lives of the children and families. Technology is
rapidly changing and enhancing the landscape that grassroots advocacy campaigns
operate in. The explosion of participation on social media web sites such as
Facebook and Twitter makes it easier for associations to effectively recruit
members and the public into their advocacy efforts.
I’m just wondering you think about social media as a tool to promote
advocacy efforts.

Bisi, Facebook is an excellent way for advocates to illustrate their cause and have the public contribute their ideas. Social media has changed through the years and connecting is easy as 123.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Bisi,
ReplyDeleteI think social media is an excellent way to promote advocacy efforts. Even in my everyday life I am informed on advocacy efforts without really looking because I follow agencies and organizations on Facebook. It really takes no extra time out of my day because most days I check my Facebook anyway. I think your point abut YouTube is a good one. It can be utilized in several ways. Have you ever thought about podcasts as a way to inform others?
Thanks,
Danielle
